Gardeners' World presenter Frances Tophill has revealed the plant that has been a standout performer in her garden, flowering continuously since May. During a recent episode of the BBC Gardeners' World podcast, she described the ornamental indigo, Indigofera pendula, as a 'really good performer' for those seeking long-lasting blooms.

Frances told host Catherine Mansley about the plant, which is now in its third year in her garden and has reached about seven feet tall. She noted that the flowers began in May and are still blooming. The plant's distinctive feature is its hanging flower stems, which elongate over time, with flowers only at the tips.
'It's got such delicate leaves, so that's really, really nice. That's a really good performer if you want flowers all year,' Frances said on the podcast.

Earlier this year, Frances also recommended lemongrass as an easy-to-grow plant, especially in warmer weather. She advised propagating it from cuttings in water, noting that it grows quickly when temperatures are warm. Once roots develop, the cuttings can be potted together and trimmed to about three centimetres above the soil to encourage growth.
Frances explained that if planted in spring, the pots can be placed outside for the summer, where they will thrive with adequate moisture and feeding. In winter, they can be dug up and used, though she joked that she doesn't know anyone who uses that much lemongrass.
