US Education Dept AI post mocked over 'Epstein lookalike'
AI post by US Education Dept mocked over 'Epstein lookalike'

The US Department of Education faced a wave of mockery after sharing an AI-generated image that some viewers claimed showed Donald Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein and Hillary Clinton.

The post, shared on Wednesday on X, was created using the platform's AI assistant Grok and depicted cartoon versions of the President in a car with Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. It carried the caption: "Freedom REVS. Stay tuned for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix THIS WEEKEND!"

The image was intended to promote the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, an IndyCar race through Washington DC held as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Social media reaction

Social media users were quick to comment on who they thought the characters either side of Trump were. One person wrote: "Hillary, Trump and Epstein." Another X user said: "Why Epstein in the go cart?" A third person commented: "Looks a lot like Epstein … what a f**king clown show this Admin is … total f**king incompetents."

The Oversight Dems account, the X profile for the House Committee on Oversight, also joined in the mockery, replying to the post: "Jesus Christ, that’s Jeffrey Epstein" alongside a shocked meme.

Background on Epstein

Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008. He was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City in 2019 while awaiting trial.

This is not the first time the US Government and Trump have been mocked or criticised for unusual AI posts on X. Earlier this month, Trump shared an AI portrait of himself sitting alongside George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Hours earlier, he had shared an AI image of a slimmer version of himself in an Elvis-style low-cut jumpsuit decorated with two sequined bald eagles.

In April, the President caused an uproar after sharing an AI image of himself as Jesus Christ, which he later deleted from his Truth Social account.

The Mirror has reached out to the US Department of Education for comment.
