A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after falling from a railway bridge in Bury town centre on Friday afternoon (August 21).
Emergency services, including police, paramedics and fire crews, responded to the incident on Knowsley Street, near Bury town hall. A cordon was put in place, and the air ambulance was seen landing on a nearby car park.
Emergency response and road closure
Numerous police and paramedic vehicles, as well as fire engines, attended the scene. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they responded to a 'concern for welfare' incident and that temporary traffic restrictions were put in place whilst emergency services responded.
The road was closed in both directions between the junctions with Angouleme Way and Manchester Road. Bury Council advised locals to allow extra time for their journeys.
Road reopened
In an update just after 4pm, the council said: "Knowsley Street, Bury has now fully reopened. Thank you all for your patience during this incident."
