King Charles is said to have one main priority as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare for their move back to the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they will be moving back to the UK later this month just two days ago. The shock announcement comes six years after they stepped down as senior working royals and moved to start a new life in California in 2020.
The couple are said to already have a home in place for their move, and have enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet into a school, which they will start at next month. The King was notified of the family's move just a few days before the public announcement on Wednesday evening.
King's focus remains on monarchy and William
Although he is said to be keen to spend more time with the family, including his two youngest grandchildren, the King's focus will remain on the monarchy and, according to a friend of the monarch, his relationship with his eldest son. In her latest article for the Daily Mail, royal editor Rebecca English wrote: "For the avoidance of doubt, sources insist, the couple will not be undertaking any royal duties. The King, they say, is absolutely adamant on this."
"His only interest is protecting and prioritising what's right for the monarchy and, particularly, what is right for his relationship with the Prince of Wales, says a friend." His priorities remain with William as he is a working royal, whilst Harry and Meghan "are not".
Sussexes not expected to return to duties
She added: "The Waleses are working royals and future monarchs. Harry and Meghan are not. And William's feelings must and will be respected, I am told." The BBC have reported that the family's new home could be in the Cotswolds and the Northampton area. The home would be close to the Spencer family estate.
The couple stepped down from royal duties in early 2020, with the couple not set to return to duties when they return.
