Rutherglen Rotary Club Plant Fair Raises Over £3,000

Rutherglen Rotary Club raised over £3,000 for local good causes at its annual plant fair, held at the United Reformed Church on Johnstone Drive. The event, which attracted hundreds of green-fingered locals, offered quality bedding plants and hanging baskets from 10am, with all proceeds going to the group’s charity fund.

Record Turnout and Rapid Sales

The Rotary club’s president, Dr Janice Ross, described the event as fantastic, noting a half-mile queue outside the church before the doors opened. “I think by about 10.20am, most of the stuff had already gone,” she said. “It was amazing. That’s an annual thing, one of the main things the Rotary does.”

Community Support and Future Events

The plant fair is a key fundraising activity for the Rutherglen Rotary Club, which supports local charities and community projects. The funds raised will be distributed to various good causes in the area. The event was captured in photographs by Andrew F. Cattanach.
