Specialist drone footage will be used to identify rooftops, chimneys, gutters and other elevated structural features in Stirling’s historic heart where unwanted plant growth is causing issues or damage to buildings.
Survey and Action Plan
Once the footage has been reviewed and an action plan developed, contact will be made with building owners about arrangements to remove the vegetation. While some properties may be suitable for a general clean and tidy-up, others may require more specialist intervention. The removal work will take place throughout the spring and early summer.
The initiative will be funded from a new £300,000 fund that was approved in the council’s 2026-27 budget for grass cutting and community pride.

Scope and Drone Operation
The project will focus on the removal of high-level vegetation on King Street, Friars Street, Port Street and Murray Place. Drone filming on these areas was set to get underway in King Street this week and will continue over the following weeks until survey work is complete.
Filming will be weather dependent, so it is not possible to confirm specific days, dates or times in advance. All drone activity will be carried out by fully accredited professional operators who will be clearly identifiable. Operators will avoid unnecessary filming of people or private spaces, focusing solely on building features.
