Chloe, the clinical manager on Channel 5's The Yorkshire Vet, has revealed the reason behind her decision to shave her head. In an episode airing on Tuesday, August 20, she was supported by colleague Peter Wright as he helped shave her hair.
Chloe undertook the challenge to raise money for cancer charities following her grandfather's diagnosis with prostate cancer. She explained: "I want to make it more of a thing that men go to the doctors, the younger the better get tested. There's nothing I can do now to help grandad, but I just want to help other people."
Peter Wright Offers Support During Head Shave
As Peter did the honours, Chloe described the experience: "It's the most bizarre feeling in the world." Peter responded: "Joking apart, I think you're being very brave."
The Channel 5 narrator revealed that Chloe had faced her own health battle, having a cyst removed from her brain 15 years ago. When she pointed out the scar on her scalp, Peter told her: "Never mind the scar, I think it accentuates your beauty."
He added: "This is for a fantastic cause, and I just hope that people do come in to see Chloe and contribute to something that will kill thousands of men every year."
Social Media Support and Fundraising
Chloe had previously received support from followers after the veterinary practice shared her charity work on social media. A post read: "Chloe's done it!! Earlier this morning Choe (with the help of Peter and Chloe's mum) braved the shave all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK."
Fans responded with encouragement. One wrote: "Brilliant Chloe well done. Everyone is proud of you xx." Another said: "She absolutely suits that! Well done lass!" A third echoed: "Well done Chlo your an inspiration to all of us."
On her Just Giving Page, Chloe shared: "By Braving the Shave I am doing my bit to raise awareness, sharing my story and motivation on social media, raising some money (hopefully!) to support research and by being able to tell everyone who looks at my bald head and asks why the reason. And if that can save just one person from a late diagnosis and one family from the pain of watching a loved one undergo cancer treatment and maybe fade away then how cool will that be!"
The Yorkshire Vet is available to watch on My5.
