Donald Trump has once again sparked major health concerns after going on a social media tirade, just days after reportedly falling asleep live on TV. The US president has faced continuous calls to step down from his leadership role after sparking worry about his mental and physical health.
This comes even after the 80-year-old underwent an annual medical checkup, in which the White House confirmed that Trump is in "excellent health". Despite this, the US leader has been spotted with reported bruises on his hands and lower leg swelling.
Falling asleep on live TV
Earlier this month, the politician reignited concerns after he was caught falling asleep live on TV while the United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth spoke at the Pennsylvania Defence and Innovation Summit. Trump was on the panel and embarrassingly struggled to keep his eyes open in front of the world press.
With his mental health now being called into question after a voter took to X/Twitter and highlighted the numerous times in one day that Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social. As a result, Trump is facing renewed calls to quit.
Voter reactions
One fumed online: "The only thing that Don Snoreleone does well is sleep on the job. He’s the first nocturnal president, due to his late-night, incoherent Truth Social rants." Another echoed: "He has gone totally nuts… What a disgrace he has been… Seems his mental issues have reached a tipping point."
A third highlighted the frequency of posts: "I mean… this IS genuinely concerning… at one of the most consequential moments in his presidency… 2 hours posting AI crap to Truth Social."
Meanwhile, another defended Trump and retorted: "I am more concerned about the idiot who created this Trump timeline. Go outside. Touch grass. Find a girl. Dress up like one. Whatever Democrats do when they're not obsessing over Trump."
Detailed timeline of posts
Addressing his frequent posts, the concerned X user shared: "Trump is having a mental health episode on social media right now. He’s been posting nonstop all day." He then listed numerous entries including AI images attacking various figures and multiple posts about Iranian oil tankers, posting 11 times within 10 minutes.
The X user issued a blunt verdict and demanded: "He’s insane. 25th Amendment NOW."
The 25th Amendment
The US Constitution, in effect since 1989, includes the 25th Amendment, which outlines four core provisions for transferring the presidency. While section three has been successfully invoked several times, section four, which many have called on for Trump, has never been used before. It provides a process for the vice-president and a majority of principal executive department heads to declare the president incapacitated against the president's will.
