Scotland is leading the UK in preparations for potential power cuts, with residents searching for blackout emergency kits at a significantly higher rate than the rest of the country. The West Midlands ranked second nationwide, demonstrating a sharp regional focus on domestic grid reliability with 77.7 searches per 100,000 people. Wales follows in third place with 54.3 searches, while London and the South West record 43.0 and 39.4 searches respectively.

The North East registered 36.2 searches, sitting just above the South East at 33.6 and the East of England at 31.5. Rounding out the figures are the North West with 30.0 searches and the East Midlands at 29.8 per 100,000 residents.

He said: "The data suggests a strong interest in blackout emergency kits in Scotland, hinting at heightened awareness or concern about potential power outages. This level of interest suggests that residents are keenly aware of the importance of preparedness."

"Regions like Wales and London show a consistent interest in emergency kits, which suggests a widespread desire to be prepared across different parts of the UK."
