Morrisons Free Oranges for Kids During World Cup Matches

Morrisons has confirmed a new initiative offering free fruit to eligible customers over three weeks in England and Scotland. The supermarket announced on June 10 that it will provide complimentary oranges to children on match days during the FIFA World Cup group stages.

Free Oranges for Young Football Fans

In a nod to the classic grassroots football tradition of orange slices at half-time, Morrisons is giving away free oranges to children visiting its stores in England and Scotland on specific dates. The offer runs from June 14 for Scotland's opening fixture, followed by matches on June 19 and 24. For England supporters, the free oranges are available on June 17, 23, and 27.

Building on an Existing Scheme

This giveaway extends Morrisons' long-running program, started in 2018, which provides free fresh fruit to children in all its supermarkets to help families achieve their five-a-day. A spokesperson said: "Whether the family is screaming at the telly from the sofa, throwing a wild match-day party, or the kids are chasing their own football glory in the back garden, Morrisons is making sure young supporters stay match-ready. The oranges will be available to little shoppers on Morrisons Market Street on select dates while stocks last."

Welsh Customers Included

Welsh supporters will not miss out either. Customers visiting Morrisons stores across Wales can collect free fruit for children at their local Market Street as usual.

Health Benefits of Oranges for Kids

Oranges are a highly nutritious choice for children, packed with vital nutrients. They are rich in Vitamin C, which helps protect against colds and supports wound healing. The natural fibre in oranges can ease constipation, while their high water content helps keep children hydrated. Vitamin C also aids iron absorption from plant-based sources, maintaining energy levels. Oranges are a good source of potassium, calcium, and phosphate, crucial for healthy bone development and heart health.
