A major incident has been declared in North Wales as emergency services battle a wildfire near Sychnant Pass on Conwy Mountain. Residents are being evacuated from their homes as the blaze spreads, with authorities urging the public to avoid the area.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is leading a coordinated response involving multiple fire appliances, specialist wildfire resources, and partner agencies. Service Delivery Manager Jami Jennings stated: “Firefighters remain on scene working in challenging conditions to contain the fire and protect surrounding communities, property, infrastructure and the environment.”

Evacuation Orders Issued

Penmaenmawr Town Council has advised residents in parts of Capelulo, near the Fairy Glen public house, to evacuate due to heavy smoke. The council emphasized the need for residents to leave the area for their safety.
