Lidl Recalls Pistachio Ice Cream Over Undeclared Cashew Nuts

Lidl has issued an urgent recall for its 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream, warning customers that the product contains undeclared cashews, posing a serious health risk to individuals with nut allergies. The recall applies to the 300g pack size with a best-before date of December 8, 2027, sold in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Health Risk Due to Undeclared Allergen

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) posted a recall alert stating: "This product contains cashew (nuts), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to cashews. Lidl are recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product." The FSA advised consumers: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund."

Lidl's Statement and Apology

Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland confirmed the recall, explaining that the cashews were not declared in the ingredient list. The supermarket said: "If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to cashews, we advise you not to consume it. Instead, please return the product to a Lidl store for a full refund, with or without a receipt." Lidl added: "Lidl wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Any customers with queries or concerns can contact our customer services team." For the Republic of Ireland, customers can call 019203010; for Northern Ireland, 0289568488.

Previous Recall Over Listeria Risk

Earlier this month, Lidl recalled two ham products in Northern Ireland due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The products included Deluxe Honey Roast Carved Irish Ham (130g, batch code 235473, use by July 16, 2026) and Deluxe Triple Oak Smoked Carved Irish Ham (130g, batch code 235461, use by July 16, 2026). The FSA warned that symptoms of listeriosis can resemble flu, including high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea. In rare cases, severe complications such as meningitis can occur, particularly in vulnerable groups: individuals over 65, pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems. The FSA advised consumers not to eat the products and to return them for a full refund.
