A large fire has broken out at Aberthaw Power Station near Barry, prompting South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to urge residents to keep windows and doors closed due to large amounts of smoke in the area.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it is in attendance at the site. Crews are working to contain the blaze, which has generated significant smoke plumes visible from surrounding areas.
Public Safety Advice
Residents have been advised to stay indoors, close all windows and doors, and avoid the area to minimise exposure to smoke. The advice remains in effect until further notice.
