47 Dead in Colombia Earthquake, Buildings Collapse

At least 47 people have been killed and dozens of buildings have collapsed after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook western Colombia, according to the latest figures from officials.

Widespread Damage and Evacuations

The quake caused serious damage to buildings and prompted evacuations as far away as Bogota, the capital. The tremors were also felt in neighbouring Ecuador.

President Promises Oversight

Colombian president Abelardo de la Espriella says he will personally oversee recovery efforts.
