Wingstop Liverpool Free Wings Giveaway Attracts Long Queues for National Wing Day
Wingstop Liverpool Free Wings Giveaway Draws Long Queues

Wingstop's National Wing Day giveaway on July 29 drew large crowds to its Lord Street restaurant in Liverpool city centre, with queues forming hours before opening. The fast food chain offered 20,000 free wings across the UK and Ireland, giving the first 100 customers at each location free wings with no purchase necessary.

Liverpool Among Top Locations

Rather than choosing random sites, Wingstop analysed where fans order the most wings to identify the country's biggest wing-loving communities. Liverpool's Lord Street was one of the top 20 locations chosen for the promotion.

Customers lined up after meetings and before work shifts to take advantage of the offer. Marcia Iles Hunt, 15, was among the first in line, waiting almost an hour before doors opened at 11am. She told the ECHO: 'I was coming down anyway and I like free chicken.'

Customers Return After Shopping Trips

Some people broke up their day by shopping before returning to queue. Sairy Sapkota, 22, and Mansoor Ghaznavi, 21, initially arrived at 9am but found no one there. Sairy said: 'I felt like I was a big back so I went shopping. My friend messaged me saying people were gathering and I came back.' Mansoor added: 'There was no line before my meeting but when I came back I saw people so I decided to queue up. I love Wingstop.'

William Styles, 36, and Olly Murray, 32, saw the promotion 'all over social media' and decided to join. William said: 'It's National Wings Day and we both love wings.' Miranda Giedraityte, 26, also saw the offer and arrived before starting her work shift. She said: 'I don't start work until later so I have time. It will 100% [be worth the wait].'

Wingstop CEO Comments

Chris Sherriff, CEO at Wingstop UKI, said: 'National Wing Day is the perfect moment for us to connect with our community. Nobody loves wings like our fans, so we looked at where the obsession runs deepest and decided those communities deserved something back. Giving away 20,000 wings is our way of celebrating the people who have made Wingstop what it is. Thank you!'
