North Lanarkshire Council’s 7-a-side Suicide Prevention football tournament is back for its 2026 edition. Teams are invited to Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Wednesday, September 9, for a day of football aimed at bringing communities together and raising awareness that it’s okay to talk and okay to ask for help.
Who Can Take Part
Teams of workmates, friends, family, community groups, or school teams (aged 16 and over) are welcome to participate. A council spokesperson said: “Together, we can raise awareness, tackle stigma and remind people that support is always available.”
Previous Event Highlights
Last year, around 250 players from schools, community groups, friends and voluntary organisations took to the pitches at Ravenscraig. Stalls from SAMH, Kooth Mental Health Support, Scottish Fire and Rescue and YAMS (You Are My Sunshine Charity) were on hand throughout the day, offering advice and highlighting the importance of talking openly about mental health.
Community Support
North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy said: “Events like this show the power of community in tackling really difficult issues.”
