Strawberry Picking at Kenyon Hall Farm: A Ticketed Summer Delight
Strawberry Picking at Kenyon Hall Farm: Ticketed Delight

Kenyon Hall Farm in Warrington, a family-run farm just a short drive from Liverpool, has turned strawberry picking into a ticketed event that sells out within seconds. Tickets, priced from £5.95 to £6.95 per person, include 300-350g of strawberries and access to other fruits and vegetables. Additional strawberries cost £10 per kg.

Ticket Demand and Experience

The farm's website warns: "Tickets will likely sell out very fast (within a few seconds) and we advise not to make firm plans or promises about coming strawberry picking as it is possible not everyone will be successful in securing a ticket." Despite the high demand, the ticketing system ensures peaceful fields with abundant fruit. Reporter Evelina Black noted that the car park was packed, but the fields had only a handful of families, allowing for a relaxed picking experience.

Farm Operations and Growing Process

The farm is owned by Tod and Barbara Bulmer, aged 74 and 75, along with their sons Simon, 46, and James, 44. James explained to the ECHO: "We grow our strawberries on tabletops and in polytunnels which allows us to control the ripening process and spread the strawberry season throughout June, July and August." This method ensures every strawberry is perfectly ripe and red, unlike childhood memories of hard, green berries.

Additional Produce and Farm Shop

Kenyon Hall Farm offers 20 different fruits and vegetables to pick, including raspberries, onions, and sweetcorn, which do not require advanced booking. The farm shop was crowned the best in the country by Muddy Stilettos in 2025, selling their own produce, baked goods, alcohol, and artisan treats. The café offers a strawberry-themed menu, including an iced strawberry matcha for £4.99 and strawberry French toast for £9.99.

Reporter Black described the strawberries as tasting "fresh with a sweetness that is hard to come by when you buy the berries from a supermarket." She found the experience relaxing and mindful, making her more appreciative of the food she eats.
