Seven groups that benefit the local community in Winchburgh have been awarded a share of £4,000 Community Chest funding through a new collaboration between Winchburgh Developments, Cala Homes (East) and Winchburgh Community Council.
The funds, donated by Winchburgh Developments and Cala Homes as part of their ongoing investment into the growing community, will help a diverse range of local groups and organisations thrive.
Recipients of the Funding
A significant number of funding applications were received, with judges Penny Lochhead (Winchburgh Developments) and Graham Campbell (Winchburgh Community Council) deciding to award a share of the £4,000 to Winchburgh Warriors Netball Club; West Lothian Riding for the Disabled Association; Winchburgh 1st Boys’ Brigade; West Lothian Flames Basketball Club; Women of Winchburgh; Winchburgh Parish Church and 33rd West Lothian Scouts.
The funding boost will enable the groups to better serve the community, including the Scouts offering subsidised trips for Cubs to ensure accessibility, and Winchburgh Warriors starting a Juniors Club to encourage more local children into the sport.

We were particularly pleased to see two brand-new organisations come forward as it means we’re able to support them at the very start of their journey.”

Claire McIntosh, Group Coach for West Lothian Riding for the Disabled Association, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding for our RDA riders as it will enable us to purchase equipment for our new Countryside Challenge course, an outdoor obstacle course designed to build confidence and transferable skills.”
Sarah Cannie, Chair of Winchburgh Warriors Netball Club, added: “We’re excited to be entering the next stage of Winchburgh Warriors Netball Club’s development. This funding will enable us to meet the growing demand for junior netball within our local community, creating more opportunities for young people to get involved in the sport.”
