Greenhall Country Cafe and Farm Shop, on the outskirts of Blantyre, has been crowned Farm Restaurant / Café of the Year at the Food Awards Scotland 2026. The rural venue, which is around 15 miles from the centre of Glasgow, beat The Oven at Overton Farm in Carluke and Cairnie Fruit Farm and Mega Maze in Cupar to claim the prize.
Location and Journey from Glasgow
The family-run shop and café can be reached from Glasgow in 30 minutes by car or around an hour via public transport. It became the first Scottish Wagyu shop in 2016, with all of its Wagyu being home-reared.
The farm shop is open from 10am to 4pm between Monday and Saturday, and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays. It is best known for its Wagyu and Angus beef, which is raised on the farm before being professionally butchered by HK Pender’s in Coatbridge and delivered back to the shop.
Local Produce and Café Menu
The store offers a wide selection of locally sourced produce, including spirits, beer, chutneys, jams, sauces, sweets, eggs, and butter. It also stocks local honey from beehives on the farm itself and various gifts such as glassware, biscuits, and shortbread.
Greenhall is home to a renowned café, with breakfast menu dishes including French toast, Eggs Benedict, pancake stacks, and breakfast rolls. There is also an 'all-day big breakfast', which includes Wagyu beef link, Wagyu square sausage, Ramsay's bacon, black pudding, haggis, fried egg, hash brown, potato scone, beans, and toast.
Lunch, Evening Service, and Visitor Reviews
The lunch menu has options such as steak pie, southern fried chicken goujons, and Wagyu beef lasagne. You can also enjoy mac and cheese, beef or chicken burgers, a selection of baguettes and toasties, and loaded fries.
Greenhall Country Café offers a weekly evening service every Saturday, with the menu changing each week. Some dishes that might be offered are whisky smoked salmon and prawn cocktail, chicken tikka masala, and various home-reared steaks served with fries.
One visitor wrote in a Google review: "We've been here multiple times for breakfast, the quality of the food is excellent and consistent. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Indoor and semi-outdoor seating. Lovely farm shop with excellent produce."
Another said: "Visited here today for the first time and definitely won’t be the last. The service was so lovely and the food was delicious! I got the chicken and haggis and husband got the steak baguette. Very much recommend this wee place but also I’d advise booking as it does get really busy."
