A study by JoJo Maman Bébé has identified the most relaxing staycation destinations for 2026, helping parents choose a calmer family holiday. The research evaluated over 30 destinations based on hotel quality, restaurant ratings, local attractions, and spa and wellness facilities.
Salcombe Tops the List
The Devon seaside town of Salcombe, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, came first. Described as having a 'laid-back coastal atmosphere and high-quality accommodation', more than half of its hotels are rated four stars or above, with 9% offering on-site spa or wellness facilities.
Salcombe boasts over 50 attractions to keep children entertained. Visitors can enjoy its two beaches, take a ferry across the estuary for sea views, kayak or paddleboard in the Kingsbridge Estuary, or explore the National Trust Overbeck’s Garden & Museum.
Other Top Relaxing Destinations
Second place went to Lyme Regis in Dorset, known for its fossil-rich beaches and Jurassic Coast access. Two Lake District locations rounded out the top five: Grasmere, with its traditional stone cottages and old-fashioned pubs, and Windermere, offering walking trails along a 10-mile lake and attractions like The World of Beatrix Potter. The full top ten list includes Salcombe, Lyme Regis, Southwold, Grasmere, Windermere, Padstow, Tunbridge Wells, the Cotswolds, Alnwick, and Harrogate.
