Remove limescale from shower head in 10 minutes

A woman has demonstrated how to eliminate limescale from a shower head in just 10 minutes using two ingredients. The hack involves a mixture of white vinegar and water.

Simple cleaning method

Lucy Kalice, a self-described wannabe domestic goddess, shared the tip on TikTok. She told her 117,000 followers that she had not cleaned her shower head in five months, and the water was coming out in different directions.

She said: "I haven't cleaned this shower head since we moved back in here 5 months ago and it's got to the point where the water is coming out of that shower head in all different directions, which is always a clear sign it needs a clean."

White vinegar solution

Lucy used a mixture of white vinegar and water, letting it sit for about 10 minutes. She noted that white vinegar is effective for cleaning limescale. The result was a gleaming shower head that looked "better than brand new."

Viewers commented on the transformation, with one saying "Wow so shiny" and another adding "Ok this is my sign to do mine! P.S. I love the bronze."

How it works

White vinegar contains acetic acid, which breaks down alkaline calcium carbonate deposits. It is a cost-effective alternative to harsh chemicals and does not damage most metal fixtures. For best results, fill a sturdy plastic bag with the solution, submerge the shower head, and leave it to soak for 10 minutes. Then remove the bag and wipe clean.
