Dream Ranger Job at Scottish Nature Reserves and Gardens
Ranger Job at Scottish Nature Reserves and Gardens

The National Trust for Scotland is offering a dream job for nature enthusiasts: a permanent, full-time ranger position at two of the country's most stunning locations. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week at Corrieshalloch Gorge National Nature Reserve and Inverewe Garden in the Scottish Highlands, with a salary of £31,055 pro-rata per annum.

Role and Responsibilities

The ranger will patrol walking trails and pinch points like the scenic Fowlers Bridge, which has a capacity of just six people. Acting as an ambassador for the National Trust for Scotland, they will inform the public on how to protect and enjoy the landscapes. Specific duties include regular site monitoring, record keeping, habitat and species surveys, weather gauge observations, footpath maintenance, fence repairs, and litter clearance.

The role also involves estate patrols to engage with visitors, outdoor enthusiasts, and campers, promoting a 'leave no trace' culture and providing advice based on the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. The ranger will greet tourists in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, answer questions, recruit and supervise volunteers, assist with group volunteering activities, build positive community relationships, and seek sustainable income sources for the Trust.
