One of Northumberland’s best-known fish and chip restaurants has raised more than £17,000 to support people living with cancer. Staff and customers at the Harbour View Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway in Seaton Sluice have been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Fundraising total announced
Manager Sharron Carr has announced that £17,653 has now been donated to the charity. The fundraising total is the result of the combined efforts of staff and loyal customers, who have supported a range of fundraising activities while visiting the popular eatery.
Sharron said: “We know that one out of every two people will be affected by cancer during their lifetime, which means that many of our customers, friends and families will face the disease at some stage.”
Making a difference
“We wanted to do something that could make a real difference to people going through what is often the toughest time of their lives. The amount we have collectively raised will go some way towards helping those in need.”
She added: “I’d like to thank our wonderful staff for all the enthusiasm they have shown and, of course, our fantastic customers whose generosity has made this possible. Every donation, no matter how small, has helped us reach this amazing total.”
