Brave naturists will risk life and limb - literally - by taking part in naked beekeeping sessions at next month's Nudefest. Anyone brave or foolish enough to forgo the usual beekeeper's outfits can learn about how these pollinators are vital to apple orchards around the Somerset site. Even the organisers have admitted the idea is a "little bonkers", adding "what could possibly go wrong?"
Naked Beekeeping at Nudefest
The UK's largest naturist festival, hosted by British Naturism, offers activities from yoga and workshops to live music, comedy, and thrilling outdoor adventures. Announcing this year's new experience, the organisers said: "The cider bar has always been popular at Nudefest, thanks in no small part to our location. Over the years, we've run trips to cider farms and cider brandy producers to learn a bit more about where the local produce comes from. We see the orchards. We see the pressing. We see the fermenting process. But what is the essential step before all of that? This is where things get a little bonkers. A strong apple harvest is absolutely dependent on effective pollination by bees. So we're doing... yes, you've guessed it… we are bringing a busload of bees onto the site. What could possibly go wrong?"
Other Activities and Attractions
The bees will join the ever-popular snake and reptile team, "meaning there are going to be rather a lot of critters wandering around Nudefest this year". British Naturism ominously added: "The most disturbing part of this story is that this isn't even the weirdest thing we have planned for this year." The festival takes place at Thorney Lakes Caravan Park, near Langport, from July 8-12.
