Marks & Spencer shoppers are racing to purchase gluten-free waffle cones from the retailer's Made Without range, which have been hailed as a 'must-have' item during the UK heatwave. The cones, which won gold at the 2026 Free From Awards, are flying off shelves as temperatures are expected to reach a record-breaking 40°C on Wednesday (June 24), prompting school closures and travel disruptions.
Heatwave Drives Demand for Cooling Treats
The blistering heat has led many to seek refreshing snacks, and M&S customers on Instagram have identified the waffle cones as the perfect solution. In a post showcasing award-winning products from the Made Without range, the gluten-free waffle cones garnered significant attention. The cones are crafted with chickpea and potato flour instead of wheat flour, making them suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
Shoppers Praise the Cones and Range
Comments on the post were overwhelmingly positive. One shopper wrote: "These are the best!" Another added: "Love these cones and the whole range. Well done, M&S, so well deserved." A third said: "So grateful for the ice cream cones." According to the product description on the M&S website, the cones "add a delightful crunch to your dessert" and have "a golden brown hue and a satisfying snap that enhances your favourite ice cream." They can be used as a cone or crumbled into a bowl for added texture.
Other Award Winners
Alongside the cones, other winners from the Made Without range included gluten-free spaghetti bolognese, a gluten-free roast chicken and bacon sandwich, gluten-free iced and spiced buns, a gluten-free bacon bun, and gluten-free nut and raisin granola. The buns were particularly popular, with one commenter noting: "Congratulations. The iced buns are particularly delicious." Another urged M&S to "keep expanding the range, we appreciate it!"
