Morrisons has unveiled its recipe for the perfect roast potatoes, sharing the one easy change you should make when cooking. The supermarket chain offers customers not just produce but recipes which could make all the difference at home. And Morrisons' experts believe one simple task will make your roast potatoes taste that much better.
The Secret to Perfect Roasties
The cooking method shared by Morrisons takes just two steps, with the easy change found in the first half of the recipe. The cooking process takes just one hour and 10 minutes. Morrisons has advised people not only to drain their potatoes as usual but also to "scuff" them before placing them on a baking tray.
They shared: "To get the perfect roasty, make sure you choose floury potatoes rather than waxy. Then just follow these simple steps, and you'll be on to a winner."
Ingredients Needed
Just three ingredients are needed for the recipe. 100ml of olive oil, 2kg of potatoes, and a teaspoon of salt flakes are all it takes for the Morrisons-approved roast potatoes. The recipe will be enough for eight servings.
Step-by-Step Instructions
The supermarket chain's recipe reads: "Heat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/Gas 7. Peel the potatoes, cut into evenly sized chunks and cook in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain well, place the lid on the pan and shake the pan to scuff the surface of the potatoes (the key to lovely crispy roasties). Drizzle them with the oil, add salt flakes and shake the pan again. Arrange on a large baking tray lined with parchment and roast for 35-40 minutes until golden and crispy."
The cooking time will take one hour and 10 minutes, with a 20 minute prep time and 50 minutes for cooking noted by the recipe. Following the ingredient amount to the letter will yield enough roast potatoes for eight people.
