Liverpool ONE Unveils Exciting Plans for New Play Area 'Kingdom of the Liver Bird'
Liverpool ONE Plans New 'Kingdom of the Liver Bird' Play Area

Liverpool ONE has announced exciting plans for a new play area at Chavasse Park, designed for families to enjoy. The new space will be called 'The Kingdom of the Liver Bird', inspired by the mythical Liver Bird symbol of the city.

A planning application has been submitted, with construction expected to begin in early 2027. Liverpool ONE states that the area will offer a variety of play opportunities for children of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds, with inclusive design integrated throughout. Guest feedback has helped shape and refine the concept.

The play area will cover approximately 1,010 square metres.

Interactive Features

The design includes interactive and sensory play elements such as communication tubes between towers, textured panels, integrated musical features, busy boards, a rotating mirror, and play boxes. Elevated viewpoints and accessible ground-level experiences will be available.

Storytelling Competition

A storytelling competition will be held in collaboration with local schools to develop the narrative of the play area, bringing its journey from water to land to life. Insights from the competition will inform further design development.
