Law firms across Lanarkshire are being encouraged to join this year's Will Aid campaign, using their legal expertise to help thousands of people make a Will while raising vital funds for charities supporting vulnerable people in the UK and around the world.
What is Will Aid?
Will Aid is an annual charity Will-writing campaign that takes place every November. Participating solicitors volunteer their time to write basic Wills and, instead of charging their usual fees, invite clients to make a donation to Will Aid.
Those donations help fund the work of Will Aid's partner charities, supporting a wide range of causes from providing humanitarian aid to protecting vulnerable children and tackling homelessness.
Benefits for participating firms
As well as making a meaningful difference through the campaign, taking part also brings wider benefits to participating firms. It provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships with existing clients, introduce new clients to the firm, demonstrate a commitment to corporate social responsibility, and give staff the satisfaction of using their professional skills to support good causes.
Last year's campaign saw participating solicitors write 8,375 Wills, raising a fantastic £832,000 in donations which will have an immediate impact changing lives for the better. But it also generated an estimated £3.64 million in future charitable legacy pledges for the eight partner charities. Alongside the donations, the campaign's total impact to more than £4.46 million.

Since its launch in 1988, Will Aid has raised more than £26 million in donations, with millions more pledged in charitable legacies thanks to the generosity of participating solicitors.
