Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has shared uplifting news from his Cheshire farm, announcing that his beloved cow Ruby is expecting a calf. The announcement came during the latest episode of Fletcher's Family Farm, following a previous miscarriage that had left the family heartbroken.
Several weeks ago, Ruby lost her calf, forcing the Fletchers to wait patiently for her recovery. However, after Ruby was reintroduced to the farm's young bull, a visit from vet Hugo confirmed that she was pregnant again, with the calf estimated to be around 14 weeks along.
The good news was tempered by the ongoing need for TB testing, a routine procedure required every six months for cattle owners. Kelvin explained the devastating consequences if a cow tests positive, as it would need to be culled. Fortunately, Ruby's TB test showed no cause for concern.
Kelvin expressed his delight at Ruby's pregnancy, noting that she had produced a healthy calf the previous year and hoping for a straightforward birth this time. While Ruby will miss the Royal Cheshire Show in 2025, the family is focused on her well-being and the arrival of the new calf.
