Hundreds of UK Schools Close Early Amid Extreme Heat

Hundreds of schools across the United Kingdom have announced closures or early dismissals for Thursday and Friday as temperatures soar into the high 30s Celsius. The Met Office has issued red and amber weather warnings for several regions, with Thursday expected to be the hottest day of the year so far.

School Closures Across Merseyside

Schools in Merseyside, including Liverpool, have adapted their routines earlier this week, allowing students to wear PE kits or leave blazers and jumpers at home. However, many schools and nurseries have now informed parents of plans to close early due to the extreme heat.

The Met Office forecast for Thursday states: "A dry, warm and sunny start. Turning even hotter on Thursday with extreme heat continuing and high humidity. Perhaps a little cloudier at times in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 34 °C."
