Gardeners struggling with wilting hydrangeas during the summer heat have been offered a simple solution. A TikTok user known as Chloe has shared a method using hot water to bring the drooping blooms back to life, and it does not require expensive fertilisers.
Chloe demonstrated the technique in a video, showing her hydrangeas looking visibly lifeless before their recovery. She advised boiling a pot of water until steaming hot, then snipping the stems to allow better water absorption. The flowers should then be left in the hot water for two hours.
According to Chloe, the transformation is not immediate. She noticed only a slight difference after an hour, but after the full two hours, the hydrangeas were fully revived. Describing the result as 'pure magic', she encouraged others to try the hack.
Several viewers tested the method and reported success. One commented that their cut hydrangeas had lasted over a month, with regular trims and hot water treatments whenever wilting occurred. Another admitted to being nervous about using hot water, fearing it might kill the already dying flowers, but was pleasantly surprised.
Chloe's video concluded with a caption expressing her astonishment: 'Reviving wilted hydrangeas with boiling water?! Who knew?!?! TikTok always coming through with the best hacks!' The tip has since gained attention as a cost-effective way to rescue summer blooms.
