Cleaning expert Sarah Burton, Director at North West Commercial Cleans, has shared a cost-effective overnight hack to remove limescale from bathroom taps and shower heads, leaving them sparkling clean. Partnering with Redrow, Burton recommends using a simple vinegar and water solution that costs just pennies.
Overnight Vinegar Soak Method
Burton's favourite hack involves filling a sandwich bag with water and a cap of vinegar, then securing it around the taps with an elastic band overnight. In the morning, remove the bag, gently brush or wipe the taps clean, and let them run for around 60 seconds. This method helps prevent limescale buildup and keeps taps looking their best.
Additional Cleaning Tips
After polishing the fixtures, Burton suggests spritzing the sink with a fragranced disinfectant. "It's a small touch, but it leaves the bathroom smelling fresh and welcoming throughout the day," she says. She also emphasises cleaning the often-overlooked plastic shower seal, which can quickly accumulate dirt and mould. Using washing up liquid and water on shower screens and seals avoids streaks and keeps them clean.
Final Touch for Freshness
To maintain a fresh-smelling bathroom, Burton recommends placing a freshly washed towel on the radiator. This spreads a lovely fresh linen scent throughout the room, completing the cleaning routine.
