Equi's Ice Cream has earned 10 stars at the Great Taste Awards, with six products recognised, marking the 11th consecutive year the Rutherglen-based maker has been honoured by the Guild of Fine Food. The awards, often called the 'Oscars' of the food world, are judged by more than 500 experts including chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers.
Winning flavours
This year's winning flavours include Pistachio Swirl (2 stars), Strawberry (2 stars), Crème Brûlée (2 stars), Amaretto Bakewell (2 stars), Blackcurrant & Cassis Sorbet (1 star), and Liquorice & Mascarpone Gelato (1 star).
Two of the award-winning flavours are available for customers to enjoy at home. Pistachio Swirl, which received a two-star award, is available in 460ml tubs at major retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op, Scotmid, Morrisons and selected One O One stores. Strawberry, also a two-star winner, is available in 120ml tubs from selected One O One and Asda Convenience stores. Both flavours can also be enjoyed at Equi's parlours across Scotland.
Recognition and praise
David Equi, CEO of Equi's Ice Cream, said: "Winning 10 Great Taste stars and extending our success to an 11th consecutive year is something the whole team is incredibly proud of. These awards are among the most respected in the food industry, so to see six of our products recognised is a fantastic achievement and reflects the passion and craftsmanship that goes into every batch we make. It's especially rewarding that two of the flavours recognised with two stars - Pistachio Swirl and Strawberry - are available for customers to enjoy at home, so they can experience these award-winning flavours for themselves."
Great Taste judges praised Pistachio Swirl as "An exceptionally well-executed ice cream... the true pistachio flavour is captured beautifully. A delicious ice cream - the judges wanted to eat more." They also complimented Strawberry as "A very well-made, natural-tasting ice cream... tremendously smooth with a creamy and indulgent texture."
Commitment to quality
Behind every scoop is a commitment to quality ingredients, with Equi's sourcing its whole milk from East Kilbride-based Park Farm, which also received accolades at the 2026 Great Taste Awards. The latest recognition continues the family-run business's long-standing success, now celebrating 11 consecutive years of recognition for its handcrafted ice cream and gelato.
