Emergency Services Day returns to Trafford Centre with Paw Patrol

The North West's biggest event commemorating the emergency services returns to the Trafford Centre this week. Emergency Services Day will be held at the shopping centre on Thursday, August 6, giving little ones the chance to meet their heroes and learn more about their vital work.

What to expect

Visitors can get up close to around 50 emergency service vehicles, enjoy live demonstrations and explore interactive displays that show exactly what it takes to keep the region safe every day. Taking place on car parks 10 & 11 outside the Great Hall, the event will see teams from over 50 organisations coming together, including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Police, the British Army, RNLI and many more.

From cutting-edge kit to vintage vehicles, there's plenty to discover – and it's a chance to see how the emergency services have evolved over the years. Favourite children's characters will also be there, including Fireman Sam and Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol, appearing at regular intervals.

Family fun and activities

There will be free face painting and live performances from local choirs throughout the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm. It's one of many events taking place at the Trafford Centre this school holidays, including the giant Summer Fair with rides, a beach area and a splash park.

As featured in the mammoth summer events guide, the fair is also based outside the Great Hall, offering something for all ages. Entry to the Summer Fair costs £2.75 if booked online, or £3.50 on the day and can be booked on the website. The attraction is open throughout the school break until the end of August, from 12pm to 8pm daily, and visitors can stay as long as they like.

Simon Layton, centre director at Trafford Centre, said: "Summer is one of the most exciting times of year at Trafford Centre, and we're delighted to be bringing back a fantastic programme of family entertainment and experiences. From the return of our Summer Fair and the brand-new Cosmic Carnival to Emergency Services Day and exciting food pop-ups, there's plenty for visitors of all ages to enjoy."
