Lisa Hogan, the girlfriend of Jeremy Clarkson, has spoken publicly for the first time about the heartbreaking loss of piglets on their Diddly Squat Farm. The 50-year-old actress was seen crying on Clarkson's shoulder in the new series of 'Clarkson's Farm' after several of her prized piglets died.
Hogan admitted she became more attached to the animals than she expected, stating: 'I didn’t think I’d be that enamoured by pigs but I did get really close to them. Farming’s just sad. The animals become your friends and you’re isolated. It was heart-breaking.'
Clarkson, 64, explained during a Q&A that he had called on Hogan to help deliver the piglets. He noted that pigs are not great mothers generally, and the sandy and black breed they have are particularly poor. The piglets died of natural causes or were accidentally crushed by their mothers.
The emotional scenes show Hogan cradling two dead piglets and placing her head on Clarkson's shoulder. Clarkson described it as 'almost unbelievably sad' and said he had never seen Hogan so upset. The film crew were reportedly shell-shocked by the high level of deaths.
Elsewhere in the new series, young farmer Kaleb Cooper was injured by machinery, though not seriously. Clarkson joked about removing health and safety equipment from the farm. The third season of 'Clarkson's Farm' premieres on Prime Video on May 3.
