Chicken breast 'trick' using butter and glasses gives 'delicious results'

Cooking experts from Cookrate have shared an unorthodox way of cooking chicken breasts that they claim ensures 'delicious' results, along with a tasty dip to accompany the dish. The online recipe website outlined the technique in a TikTok video, which involves butter and glasses.

The Butter and Glasses Trick

In the video, Cookrate begins by cutting butter into a few glasses, slicing a stick of butter into several tumblers standing in a frying pan. They then fill the glasses with chicken breast cut into pieces. After steaming for four minutes, allowing the butter to melt around the chicken, home cooks are advised to carefully remove each glass from the pan.

Next, Cookrate instructs viewers to cut off the top (around a third) of a large plastic bottle and pour in the chicken. They then add 200g of grated mozzarella and 25g of finely-chopped parsley to the bottle, followed by 120g of mayonnaise and 100g of sieved flour on top. After seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper, the ingredients are mixed and frozen for six hours.

Cooking and Serving

Once frozen, Cookrate advises cutting the contents into equal slices and peeling the plastic surround from each portion. They then melt 60g of grated butter in a pan and bring it to the boil. Each slice is placed in the pan and cooked on a medium heat on both sides for six minutes until browned.

For the accompanying sauce, Cookrate suggests peeling and finely chopping a red onion into a bowl along with more finely-chopped parsley (20g). They then peel and grate a few garlic cloves and season with mixed herbs, chilli flakes, salt, black pepper and olive oil (30ml). The recipe concludes by mixing in 150g of Greek yoghurt to create a sauce. Cookrate enthused: "Simple, quick and delicious" as they dipped in their chicken creation.

Alternative Method

Meanwhile, Lisa of the food blog Downshiftology says the best way to cook chicken breasts is to roast them hot and fast, resulting in "juicy and flavourful" meat. She said: "The key to juicy chicken breasts is to cook them hot at 425F (218C) for the right amount of time. For small breasts, cook for 18-20 minutes. For larger breasts, cook for 20-25 minutes." Lisa advises using a food thermometer, removing the chicken from the oven once its internal temperature reaches 160F (71C).
