Burger King has been serving breakfast in the UK for more than three decades, yet the menu remains virtually unknown. The chain does not advertise it, and only about 100 of its nearly 600 UK locations offer breakfast.
Discovery Through Social Media
The breakfast menu came to light through a viral TikTok video by @ellisetiax, which garnered over 430,000 views. The video showed the creator enjoying hash brown bites and an egg and cheese butty, prompting hundreds of baffled comments from Brits who had no idea the menu existed.
Why the Secrecy?
A Burger King spokesperson explained that the breakfast menu isn't actively promoted because it isn't available at all locations. Newer and remodelled restaurants serve breakfast, as do larger city-centre outlets like the one in London's Leicester Square. Timings vary between restaurants, and the chain did not provide a full list of locations.
Menu and Prices
The breakfast menu includes the Breakfast King (sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese butty), Ultimate Breakfast (sausage, bacon, and egg), Egg & Cheese Butty, Bacon & Egg Butty, Sausage & Egg Butty, plain Bacon or Sausage Butty, and Hash Browns. Prices start at £1.79, with Butty Deals from £3.49 including a drink.
Taste Test Reactions
Metro's team had mixed reactions. The Egg & Cheese Butty was described as classic fast food fare that hit the spot, with soft bread and fluffy egg. Deputy TV editor Thomas Percival hailed the Breakfast King a 'triumph', noting its high-calorie appeal and suggesting it needs ketchup. However, video producer Jed Bradley found the Bacon Butty a letdown due to lack of sauce and butter, and news reporter Sarah Hooper felt the Sausage & Egg Butty was 'mid', suggesting hot sauce.
