Americans in Boston have given their verdict on popular Scottish treats, with many praising Irn Bru and Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. The taste test took place as Scotland fans, known as the Tartan Army, take over the city for the 2026 World Cup.
Irn Bru Gets Mixed Reviews
Instagram user Giovanni, under the handle @giodoesinterviews, asked passersby to try the iconic Scottish drink. Many described it as 'very good', 'amazing', and 'delicious'. One Haiti fan said it 'tastes a little bit like bubblegum, it's good though'. Another called it 'fruity'. Viewers had mixed opinions on the bubblegum comparison, with some agreeing and others disagreeing.
Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Wins Hearts
Giovanni also introduced shop staff to Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. One staff member, Dave, exclaimed: 'How have I gone 40 years without Tunnocks?' After trying it, he quickly agreed when Giovanni said: 'It's almost like you just tried greatness.' Two other staff gave the wafer scores of 8.7 and 8 out of 10.
Commenters delighted in the cultural exchange, with one saying: 'As an American who has lived in Scotland for years, I am loving this cultural exchange in Boston!!!!' Another added: 'Over there doing god's work.'
