Amanda Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, struggled to hold back tears as she bid farewell to Little Joe, one of the family's cherished Shetland ponies, in a rerun episode originally aired in 2021.
Gathering her children in the stable, Amanda asked through tears, 'So what do you think, Nancy?' Her daughter responded, 'He was quite good,' prompting the shepherdess to agree tearfully: 'He was good, wasn't he?'
Nancy then pointed to another horse and asked, 'Is that horse going to die?' Amanda clarified, 'No, Tony is just young.' When Nancy asked, 'What happened? Did he get old to die?' Amanda explained: 'He did, he didn't suffer, he just dropped. He just had a heart attack.'
Nancy reassured her mother that she had taken 'really well' care of the pony, adding, 'He has been fed really good and he's grown a lot and he's really cosy.' Amanda comforted her children: 'I don't think there could be a better looked-after pony.' The family then gathered around to say their final goodbyes, with Amanda confessing to the camera, 'We're going to miss him.'
Since Our Yorkshire Farm concluded, most of the Owen children have kept a low profile, except for Reuben, who launched his own Channel 5 series. However, the family is set to reunite for a new show, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive, and Kids, which follows their journey to restore a run-down property nearby.
Amanda expressed excitement about the TV return, stating: 'It is fantastic More4 has given us the opportunity to showcase what we do best, working as a team and battling the elements whilst trying to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory.'
