2000+ Lanarkshire Volunteers in SpringClean Scotland

More than 2000 people in Lanarkshire took part in litter picks during #SpringCleanScotland 2026, the country's largest mass litter picking event. Organized by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful, the annual event encourages individuals to organize or join a litter pick to clean up their local area.

Participation Numbers

In South Lanarkshire, 1369 people participated in 131 clean-ups, while in North Lanarkshire, 824 people took part in 19 clean-ups. Prizes were awarded to groups for their participation, with East Kilbride Litter Pickers winning for early registration.

Chief Executive's Statement

Barry Fisher, chief executive at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: "Every year we kick off #SpringCleanScotland with the aim of getting as many people as possible involved in keeping Scotland beautiful. It’s fantastic to see so many people in Lanarkshire got involved, showing their commitment to tackling the litter which is polluting their community and our environment."
