Families can now pick sunflowers and wildflowers at Roby Mill Farm Shop in Upholland, Wigan, with entry costing just £1 and sunflowers priced at £1 each or six for £5. Children under 18 months go free.

What to Expect at the Fields

The farm, located off Lafford Lane, also offers fields full of wildflowers that visitors can pick and fill a glass jar with for £5. The opening weekend attracted record crowds, with many photo opportunities along the way, including a Gruffalo themed piano, a swing, a boat, a bath, and a bright yellow door.

Practical Information

Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leads at all times. Visitors are advised to bring their own secateurs, though pairs can be purchased for £4. The fields are open daily from 10am to 4pm throughout August, except Mondays, with free parking and easy access paths.

Refreshments and Stalls

Weekend visitors can enjoy stalls selling refreshments, including Vanessa's Bakes with cupcakes, cookies and brownies, Cubbyhole Candles & Melts, SewShaw Crafts, and Catherine’s Coffee and Cake. Midweek, cold drinks are available from the farm shop, which sells fruit, vegetables, fresh bread, and eggs. Visitors can also bring their own food and drink, with picnic benches available opposite the farm.

After the launch weekend, Roby Mill staff shared on Facebook: "That was quite possibly our busiest ever opening day. We’ve had an absolute ball today talking to you all; the banter, the bouquets and the brilliant sunshine, we’ve enjoyed ourselves so much and we hope you guys did too."
