Olivia Rodrigo's festival raises $10m for women's charities

Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival in Irvine, California, raised over $20m (£14.76) for women-focused charities, with $10m donated directly to 10 organisations. The event, held on Saturday (August 29), featured performances from Chappell Roan, Rachel Chinouriri, Mitski, and Stevie Nicks, and included a rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" by Rodrigo and Nicks.

Festival Highlights and Performances

Rodrigo, 23, performed in a white corset dress, delivering hits from her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. She also dueted with Sarah McLachlan on "Angel," a tribute to Dolly Parton, who died last week. McLachlan's Lilith Fair festival inspired Rodrigo to create her own all-female event.

During her set, Rodrigo thanked the artists, saying: "The fact that they took the time out of their insanely busy schedules to come and do this festival for free is something I'm so grateful for." She added: "Because of that, and because of all of you who came to hang out today, I can stand on the stage and say we are donating $10m to 10 incredible charities."

Charity Beneficiaries and Future Plans

The $10m is being split equally among Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Baby2Baby, Planned Parenthood, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, John Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, and National Women's Law Center. The festival also received a donation from Melinda French Gates.

In a statement, the organisers said Daisy Chain Fields was created to "celebrate the power of what can happen when we come together to support one another." Rodrigo added: "The organisations we've partnered with are doing incredibly important work every single day in the US and globally." She expressed gratitude to ticket buyers, artists who waived fees, sponsors, and donors.

Before the festival, Rodrigo and her co-organisers hinted at a return, posting on Instagram: "One year down, and we'll just keep growing."
