A 34-year-old man has shared how he got petty revenge on neighbours who repeatedly refused to clean up after their dog, by throwing the animal's waste onto their roof for five months. The man, who posted on Reddit, said the situation escalated after he accidentally stood in dog poo late at night and tracked it into his house.
The man explained he had previously lived in a quiet neighbourhood where he got along well with most of his elderly neighbours. However, things changed when a couple his age moved in with their baby and a large dog. According to the man, the new neighbours regularly allowed their dog to roam without a lead and failed to pick up any waste after it, despite him asking several times.
He said on Reddit: "I feel I shouldn't have to pick it up."
Neighbours Ignored Warnings and HOA Rules
The dog was also allegedly a nuisance for other reasons, with the man claiming it barked constantly, day and night, and had even lunged at a couple walking past. He said the "massive" dog, which weighs more than 110lbs, was apparently rarely kept on a lead.
Police had reportedly even visited the property and warned the owners they needed to keep the dog on a lead or risk animal control becoming involved. The neighbourhood's HOA rules also stated that dogs must be kept on a lead or inside an invisible fence when outside.
But despite the complaints, the man claimed his neighbours continued to ignore the issue. Things got even worse when he overheard the couple laughing about his previous requests for them to pick up after their dog.
Five Months of Roof-Top Revenge
Rather than confronting them again, the man decided to take matters into his own hands - and his revenge was anything but ordinary. He explained the neighbours had a new roof installed in February, and for the following five months, he went outside late at night with a shovel and threw the dog's poo onto their roof.
By July, he claimed the brand-new roof was "littered" with dog mess. As the area experienced plenty of rain during spring, the man said the waste had gradually turned into liquid and was now sitting on top of the roof. Then, as temperatures climbed to 36C degrees, he finally got the reaction he'd been waiting for.
Sitting on his back porch drinking iced tea, he claimed he could hear his female neighbour shouting at her husband the entire upstairs of their home smelled like dog poo. The couple reportedly couldn't work out where the smell was coming from. The man admitted he found their confusion amusing, particularly when he heard his neighbour gagging.
He insisted he didn't want the dog to be harmed and understood it had to relieve itself somewhere. But, after repeatedly asking the owners to clean up after their pet, he felt he had run out of patience.
Commenting on his post, one user said: "Not picking up after your dog is pure trash person mentality. This is brilliant!" Another user added: "Fantastic revenge. You were only returning their property. This was very civic minded of you!"
