A data leak by Swiss hacktivist maia arson crimew has unveiled the inner workings of Dialog, an exclusive private social club co-founded by former PayPal CEO Peter Thiel and angel investor Auren Hoffman. The club, which has operated since 2006, hosts invitation-only retreats for roughly 200 global elites, including politicians, entrepreneurs, academics, and Hollywood figures. This year's two-day gathering is scheduled for August outside Dublin, Ireland.
Hidden Rating System for Members
According to Wired's analysis of the leaked data, Dialog grades its attendees on a secret scale based on wealth and fame. Members are assigned a grade of A, B, or C, with C reserved for the most famous and influential. For example, actor Josh Brolin is classified as a VIP, with notes highlighting his role as Thanos in the Avengers series and his involvement in Avengers: Endgame, which grossed over $2.79 billion.
Attendees also receive a "value-add" score from 1 to 4, determined by Dialog staff. Those with a "Value Add Too Low" or labeled "Poor Culture Fit" can be disinvited from events. These grades influence event pricing, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Lower-grade attendees pay full price about 70% of the time, while only a quarter of VIPs incur the highest fees.
Unusual Session Topics
Dialog's agenda includes a range of peculiar sessions, such as "Bring Back Nuclear," "Disinformation and Deepfakes," "Contrarian AI Takes," "Democracy Under Surveillance," and "Money (Does?) Buy Happiness." Other sessions cover cult-building (moderated by the founder of Christian site Pray.com), "Navigating WWIII," and "How's Your Sex Life?"
Matchmaking for Networking and Dating
Dialog operates a matchmaking system that pairs members for networking or dating. Staff use photos and short bios to introduce potential matches. A note shows two members were paired because they "both in New York and work in government." The club maintains a "do-not-pair" list for spouses or professional associates, though some pairings are flagged without explanation.
Leak Exposes Security Lapses
The leaked data includes home addresses, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, food allergies, and political leanings of members. Crimew expressed surprise at the lack of security, telling Straight Arrow: "It's just wild to me how this once again shows that the people who run the world are so confident in their safety that they don't really bother with any proper operational security. Not even for their 'off the record' secret conventions where they all network and discuss our collective future."
