Everton Backed to Sign Jadon Sancho on Free Transfer After Grealish Claim
Everton Backed for Jadon Sancho Free Transfer

Everton have been backed to make Jadon Sancho a bargain buy this summer. The winger, once a £73million signing for Manchester United, is now a free agent after his contract expired. Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, helping them win the Europa League, but made only 38 appearances and scored once.

Wes Brown's Verdict

Former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown believes Sancho could be a valuable option for Everton manager David Moyes. Speaking via Compare.bet, Brown said: "What's next for Jadon Sancho? When he went back to Borussia Dortmund on loan it looked like he was getting it back together but he fell off again. He's still only 26 and you wish him all the best. Being a free agent makes it a little bit easier, but you still have to go out there and prove yourself."

Comparison with Jack Grealish

Brown drew a parallel with Jack Grealish, who may get another chance at Manchester City. "If Jack Grealish gets another chance at Manchester City, why not Everton for Jadon Sancho? I'm not saying they're similar players but the way they take the ball and carry it you could arguably say that Sancho could be the one for Everton if a permanent move for Grealish doesn't happen, but it's a gamble. He's certainly an option this summer," Brown added.

Sancho, now 26, has had a mixed career since leaving Borussia Dortmund for Manchester United in 2021. After underwhelming at Old Trafford, he was loaned back to Dortmund, then to Chelsea, and finally to Aston Villa. His cameo in the Europa League final, where he replaced goalscorer Emiliano Buendia in the 81st minute, was his last appearance for Villa.

Everton, under new manager David Moyes, are looking to strengthen their squad on a budget, and a free transfer for Sancho could be a low-risk, high-reward move. However, as Brown noted, it remains a gamble given Sancho's inconsistent form in recent years.
