Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden is set to face another huge shock in the wake of accidentally killing Dr Todd, according to show boss Laura Shaw. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Shaw teased that a major secret will rock Sarah, adding to the turmoil she already faces.
Sarah's accidental killing
In Sunday night's episode, Sarah walked in on Charity Dingle confronting her rapist, Todd, after police closed the case. Hearing the accusation, Sarah realized Todd had raped Charity. As Todd was about to expose Charity's baby secret to Sarah, disaster struck: Sarah pushed Todd, who slipped and fell, hitting her head on the table and dying instantly.
Long-lasting fallout
Laura Shaw explained that Sarah and Charity are now "locked in a secret" that will have long-lasting effects on their relationship. She added that the baby secret—Leyla's true parentage—will inevitably come out, saying, "It's going to, it's got to happen at some point." How that revelation will intertwine with Todd's death remains to be seen.
What's next for Sarah
The immediate aftermath will see Sarah's life turned upside down, with Charity desperate to keep her secret. Whether Sarah will exit the soap after her killer actions is still unknown. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
