Eight people were arrested after police raided three massage parlours in the North East as part of an operation to tackle suspected modern slavery. Officers executed warrants at premises on Parkgate, Thompson Street East, and Stonebridge in Darlington earlier this month, following concerns raised about exploitation.
Arrests and Suspicions
Seven women and one man, aged between 37 and 57, were arrested on suspicion of controlling prostitution for gain. They were later released on bail while investigations continue. Durham Constabulary confirmed the arrests were made under a proactive operation targeting modern slavery.

Inspector David Littlefair of Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team stated: "Our officers will continue to act on intelligence, taking a proactive approach to protecting the vulnerable and tackling those who exploit them."
