Claremont Ramblers Enjoy Sunny Walk on Isle of Bute

Claremont Rambling Club sailed 'doon the watter' on Sunday, July 26, 2026, when club members and visitors enjoyed a mainly sunny day out walking on the Isle of Bute. They caught the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay.

Coastal Stroll and Hillier Route

Most of the walkers opted for a fairly leisurely stroll of just under six miles along the coast to Port Bannatyne marina. They stopped for lunch there before returning to Rothesay.

A hardy few chose a slightly hilly nine-mile hike taking a more or less circular route. This route went past Loch Ascog, down to the coast at Kerrycroy Bay, then heading back inland along the West Island Way and returning to Rothesay.

Social Hour and Return Journey

A social hour in Rothesay ensured that thirsts were quenched for the return journey by ferry to Wemyss Bay and then back on the club bus to East Kilbride.
