Snowy, a five-year-old Maltese cross, was discovered by rescuers in Cairo, Egypt, after surviving on the streets alone for at least three months. He was in a critical condition, running a high fever, with a severely matted coat that had to be shaved off, and battling a serious infection in one of his front legs.
A Life-Saving Amputation
Despite the best efforts of veterinarians, the infection had deteriorated so badly that amputating his front left leg was the only option to save his life. The surgery was a success, and Snowy has since made a remarkable recovery.
Following weeks of dedicated care, his fluffy coat is growing back, he has regained his strength, and he has adapted beautifully to life on three legs. Rescuers say he can walk, run, and even jump with ease, never letting his disability hold him back.
A Loving Personality
Despite his ordeal, Snowy has not lost his faith in people. He is described as incredibly affectionate, gentle, and friendly, adoring cuddles and thriving on human company. He gets along well with other dogs and has been assessed around children, where he did "very well."
Now, Snowy is searching for a loving family to call his own. He is neutered, weighs around 6kg, and is available for adoption. His travel costs to the UK are approximately £600, and anyone interested in offering him a forever home can contact the rescue directly.
