Nile Rodgers and Cammy Barnes Defy Rain at TRNSMT

Nile Rodgers and Cammy Barnes refused to let the rain dampen their spirits during the opening day of the TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green. Despite the wet weather, both artists delivered memorable performances that captivated the audience.

Nile Rodgers Shines Through the Downpour

Nile Rodgers and his band Chic took to the main stage undeterred by the rain. At one point, while the band huddled under umbrellas, his backing crew sang "No Scotland No Party," and a voice believed to be Rodgers' was heard saying, "We don't care. We don't care if there's a downpour or a hurricane at TRNSMT, we don't care." The weather forced Rodgers to skip his usual pre-gig walk around town, but he made up for it with an energetic performance featuring hits like "We Are Family" and David Bowie's "Let's Dance."

Cammy Barnes Makes History

Cammy Barnes, the Scottish singer and piper, managed to play the bagpipes through the drizzle, proving his down-to-earth nature. He recently announced new tour dates, some of which have already sold out. Earlier in the day, he was seen carrying his change of shirt on a hanger as he walked to the festival. Barnes is making history by both opening the main stage and closing the festival with "Flower of Scotland."

Admitting to nerves about the event, Barnes said, "I'm opening TRNSMT and I'm closing it as the headliner. I think I'm the first to do it. I'm a wee bit nervous. I hope we get the big win tonight. We deserve it especially as it's raining the whole day. It's typical Scotland weather but it's not bothering anyone. There's hundreds of Scotland fans out there with ponchos." He added, "See when you cut the bagpipes out and the audience keep singing 'Flower of Scotland,' that moment can never be touched. It's proper hair up on your arms stuff."
